I have been searching for suitable airtight storage containers for quite some time. Long ago one would have been able to find out large glass containers with ground glass rimmed glass lids. Opening and closing these are pretty simple. You press the lid and give a slight twist and Presto it's closed airtight. These types were used for storing pickles and sugar syrup preserved fruits. Unfortunately these jars are no longer available. Of course the glass quality were not as good as they are now.I have known Borosil products for more than a decade for their unique quality as labware as well as household wares. Thus when I came to know about these products I really had high expectations. But I am quite disappointed after opening the package on its arrival. In the manufacturer's site it was claimed to be having stainless steel lid. However, in reality, it is a stainless capped polymer lid with soft polymer gasket. Moreover, the gasket has two small holes probably for ease of opening and closing the lid. Although I am yet to test the air-sealing of the jar but I must confess that I didn't expect this from Borosil. They could have used conventional, but time tested metallic screw cap with soft polymer gasket or glass lids with metal wire clamps found in some imported jars. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about the glass component of the jar. Being wide mouthed they are easy to clean. However, this being a premium priced (Rs.999 for the set) item I am quite unhappy with the lid component. No, I don't want to return them, but definitely I shall never go for a repeat purchase of this product.

Advantages

The airtight seal and cap appear flimsy, you do not get a reassuring seal, the cap slides in too easy giving a feeling that it might loose it's grip over time. Time will tell how good it has held up.

Well this satisfies me with the intended use. It's not airtight, but still serves the purpose to store and serve. Simple design, eligant looks, stores rusk and long biscuits easily for daily tea time. Although glass is little thin and looks as if it will break easily, I'm loving its use.....opening lids is not so tough may be this makes it easy go usage

Don’t find it air tight. Things kept inside it doesn’t keep fresh. Noticed this now multiple times. The earlier model for this jar set by Borosil was better

My mom just placed it on shelf casually and it broke.. Not even a little pressure was applied. One cant be so careful while cooking. Not worth the premium paid for the brand

The product came safely and well packed . It had plastic coverings on lid so was protected from scratches . The rubber grip was fresh and tight enough than you purchase from local stores because customers open and close it number of times .i am using this model since 3 years absolutely flawless , they are very light weight and u can even stack them one above the other .
