Pichwai is one of the most spectacular ancient & traditional forms of art which originated in the villages of Nathdwara in the state of Rajasthan India. This 400-year-old art form generally depicts and narrates the tales of Lord Krishna's life. The Sanskrit word "Pichh" means back and "wais" means hanging so Pichwais are paintings or hangings which form the backdrop behind the main deity of Krishna temples. The making of a traditional pichwai painting takes a considerable amount of time ranging from a couple of weeks to months.
